Who we are
Hidden Structure is a commercial advisory practice of Horizon Search Inc. Horizon Search Inc. is responsible for the personal information described in this policy when Hidden Structure decides why and how it is processed.
Questions or privacy requests can be sent to david@hiddenstructure.co.
What we collect
The information we handle depends on how you use the site.
| When you use | Information involved |
|---|---|
| Free diagnostics | Your selected answers, progress and completion date. |
| Optional review request | Your diagnostic result, work email, company if provided, and timing selection. |
| Engagement intake | Contact details and the business information you choose to provide about revenue, pipeline, pricing, channels, priorities, and related operating context. |
| Site use | Limited technical information processed by our hosting and analytics providers, such as page requests, device or browser information, and network information needed to deliver and secure the site. |
| Direct contact | Information you include when you email us or book a call. |
Please do not submit sensitive personal information through the diagnostics or engagement intake unless it is genuinely necessary for an agreed engagement and you are authorized to provide it.
Diagnostics and browser storage
The free diagnostics are designed to work without an account and without sending your answers to Hidden Structure as you complete them.
Your answers remain in the current browser session while you take a diagnostic. If you choose Remember my progress on this device or use Save & exit, the site stores the diagnostic state in your browser using local storage. This lets you return to the same browser and continue later.
- Saved diagnostic progress stays on that browser and device unless you submit a review request.
- You can clear the saved browser copy from the diagnostic interface at any time.
- Clearing site data, using private browsing, or changing browsers or devices may remove saved progress.
- The light or dark appearance preference is also stored locally after you choose it.
We use browser storage for these user-requested convenience features. We do not use diagnostic answers stored on your device for advertising or cross-site profiling.
Forms and engagement data
Information is sent to Hidden Structure when you deliberately submit a form, such as a diagnostic review request or an engagement intake. We use it to respond to your request, evaluate or perform an engagement, communicate with you, protect the service, and keep appropriate business records.
We may make submitted information available to personnel and specialist advisors who need it for the relevant engagement, and to service providers that host or operate the site and forms. Those providers process information for their own legal obligations or under the terms governing the services they provide to us.
Paid advisory work may be subject to additional confidentiality, security, retention, and data-handling terms in the applicable engagement agreement. If there is a conflict, the signed engagement agreement governs that engagement.
Analytics and service providers
We currently use Plausible Analytics for aggregate website measurement. The standard Plausible configuration used on this site is designed without advertising cookies or cross-site behavioral profiles. We use analytics to understand page use and diagnostic funnel events. Our custom diagnostic events are designed not to include diagnostic answers, names, email addresses, annual revenue, or shared-result payloads.
The site is hosted using Netlify, which also processes submitted site forms. We also use externally hosted web fonts and, on the illustrative sample diagnostic, a content delivery network for chart code. These services may receive technical request information needed to deliver their resources.
Links to TidyCal, LinkedIn, Spotify, YouTube, and other third-party services take you to services governed by their own privacy practices.
No advertising sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
EEA and UK legal bases
Where the EU GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the legal basis appropriate to the activity.
- Your request or a contract when we respond to an inquiry, review request, scoping request, or perform agreed advisory work.
- Legitimate interests when we operate, secure, improve, and measure the site in ways that do not override your rights.
- Consent when you choose optional browser persistence or where consent is otherwise required by law. You can withdraw an optional browser-storage choice by clearing saved progress.
- Legal obligations when we need to retain or disclose information to comply with applicable law.
Retention and security
Browser-saved diagnostic progress remains on your device until you clear it, the browser removes it, or you overwrite it with a new saved diagnostic. Hidden Structure does not receive that browser copy merely because it exists.
For submitted review requests, intake forms, correspondence, and engagement records, we retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the request or engagement, legitimate business recordkeeping, dispute prevention, security, and legal obligations. We avoid retaining engagement data longer than needed for those purposes and apply any more specific retention terms in the engagement agreement.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the information. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live and which law applies, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or information about how your personal data is used. You may also have a right to object to certain processing, withdraw consent, or complain to a privacy regulator.
To make a request, email david@hiddenstructure.co. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a legally protected privacy right.
Canada and Australia
Where Canadian or Australian privacy law applies, you may request access to or correction of personal information and raise a privacy complaint with us. Additional rights and regulator complaint routes may apply based on your location and the law governing the processing.
California privacy notice
This section supplements the rest of the policy for California residents. The categories we may collect include identifiers such as business contact details, internet or network activity associated with site delivery, and commercial or professional information you choose to provide through diagnostics, review requests, or engagement intake.
We collect this information directly from you and automatically from normal site requests. We use it for the business purposes described above, including providing requested services, operating and securing the site, communicating with you, and measuring aggregate site use.
We do not sell personal information and do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. If California law gives you rights to know, access, correct, delete, or opt out of covered processing, you may exercise them by emailing us. We will honor legally required browser-based opt-out signals where they apply to processing we conduct.
Do Not Track
We do not use the site for cross-site behavioral advertising. Because there is no universal technical standard for browser Do Not Track signals, the site does not change its core functionality in response to a Do Not Track header. This does not affect any legally required opt-out mechanism, including Global Privacy Control where applicable.
International transfers
Hidden Structure operates across borders and uses service providers that may process information in countries different from yours, including Canada and the United States. Privacy protections and government-access rules can differ by country.
Where applicable law requires a specific safeguard for an international transfer, we will use an appropriate legal mechanism for the transfer or another lawful basis available under that law.
Children
The site and diagnostics are intended for business professionals and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the free diagnostics.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site, our services, or legal requirements change. We will post the revised version here and change the effective date. If a change materially affects how we use information already collected, we will provide any additional notice required by applicable law.
